CELEBRITY fit club star Julie Goodyear has learned that her overeating is a reaction to her mother's lifelong battle with anorexia.

The former Coronation Street star made the emotional discovery during a regressive therapy session to be screened on the ITV1 show tonight.

The 62-year-old actress looked stunned as she was told that her weight had soared over the past 18 years since her pub landlady mother Alice died weighing just four stone.

Expert Marissa Peer told Julie she'd piled on the pounds as she struggled to cope with her loss.

The actress said: "It was a very, very painful thing for me to watch. I compensated by overeating. But now I understand I can let it go."

Julie aims to lose two stone by the end of March.
